Team Barrow Study Guide Week of January 9-13, 2011


January 16: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day—NO SCHOOL

February 14: We will exchange Valentine Cards

· Check your child’s agenda daily for updates and homework assignments

· I will now attach a weekly progress report in the Monday folder.

Many of our tests are taken on-line or they are assessments that must be kept at school.

Please sign this report each week.

Math:

· Two digit addition and subtracting with and without regrouping.

· Those students that don’t know their basic math facts are having a difficult time.

Reading/Language Arts

· Spelling, Reading and Vocabulary Test will be on Thursday

· Reading Story: Mr. Putter and Tabby Write a Book

· Spelling Words are in agenda

Social Studies

· Begin unit on goods/services, needs/ wants

Welcome Back!!!

I hope each of you had a fabulous Christmas! Today we got back in the swing of things.

There will be no homework for this week. However, I expect each child to read and AR test each morning.

·         Awards Assembly is Wed, January 4, 2012 at 1:30 pm
·         No School on Monday January 16

  • Students have an end of unit math test on Thursday.
  • Our Spelling Test will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.
  • The children wrote their spelling words in their planner on pg. 53.
  • Our Reading Test on “Mr. Putter and Tabby” will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2102.
  • Please make sure your child brings their planner to school each day.

Christmas


We will have our Christmas Party on Friday, December 16th from 1:30-2:30 pm. All parents are invited to the party. Please try to make arrangements for any younger siblings to stay with a sitter. This is your child's special time to spend with you and his/her classmates.

The children will not exchange gifts. If any gifts are brought to the school, there mus be enough for all 24 students.

Monday, December 19 we will have a school wide sing-a-long. Our class is planning on singing "Do You Hear What I Hear". Everyone is invited to attend.

Blocton's Magical Market
A Unique Christmas Shopping Experience

The holiday season is quickly approaching and we have great news for our community. On Saturday, December 10th from 10-2 you can shop at West Blocton Elementary School for some unique gifts. We have local vendors who sell and make gift items to be purchased. So mark your calendars and make plans to be a part of this exciting shopping experience.

If you would like to receive information on being a vendor, please pick up an application at the school.

We are also expecting a visit from Santa at 12:30 pm. You can make plans to have your child's picture makde with him. The picture will be a 4x6 and cots $10. All proceeds benefit the school.

Weekly Information

*November 23, 24, 25-- school is closed for Thanksgiving!
*December 6—2nd grade Class Field Trip

*This week we have a canned food drive. It would be nice if we could collect 50 cans for our class.
*We are also participating in a coat drive. If you have any gently used coats that you no longer wear please
donate them.
