September Book Order

Notes went home today about our September Book Order. 

Book orders are due on September 18, 2015 at 12 noon.

 

Week of September 7

Monday is Labor Day and school will not be open.  Below is our study guide for the short week.

Week of August 31

We have had another awesome week!  Currently there are no pictures loaded on our website.  I hope to add pictures this week.  Once pictures are added I will send out a Remind message with the password.

Our second grade class shirt will be green this year.  The cost of the shirt is $7.  Please don't forgot to return blue form including size with your money.   This is due on September 4.

Grandparents are invited to breakfast on Friday, September 4.  Doors will open at 7 am.  Cost is $2.25 for adults.

Preparing for Week 3

We are preparing to start Week 3 for this school year.  We will have our first edible experiment this week!  I still need 2 more items donated.  Please let me know if you can help out!  If  you are not receiving texts from our class please send me a note to school.  Please find below the study guide for the week!

Study Guide for August 10-14

We had a great first two days!  Below is the study guide that will be sent home on Monday.  We will take our first spelling test this week.  On Friday students will also take a vocabulary quiz and a language arts quiz on this week's skill.  This week we are working on how to write complete sentences.  Have a great weekend!

2015-2016 Supply List

Today is the day students get to meet the teacher!  

"Meet 'n Greet" will be held today, Monday, August 3 between 4pm and 6pm.  Students will meet their teacher and bring their supplies.

School will begin on Thursday, August 6, 2015.

2014-2015 2nd Grade Supply List

It is that time of year again.  School will start in a few short weeks.  The school will hold an Open House and Meet-n-Greet on Monday, August 4, 2014.  Please come and meet your teacher and bring your supplies.

Welcome Back

We had a great first and second day!!

Here is the study guide for this week.  Students must learn their lunch number by the end of the week.  We are also practicing The Pledge of Allegiance.  Students will recite this on Friday.

Start of Second Nine Weeks

As we begin our second nine weeks I would like to make you aware of opportunities you have to view grades and tests taken.

       STI at home is a wonderful tool.  I personally use this with my children.  The cost is $15 for an entire family.  This allows you to view grades and attendance records.  I update my STI weekly.  If you purchase this for your family, you will be able to view all grades I have given and the current average.  I strongly suggest this for all my parents.  For more information contact the board at stihome@bibbed.org.

            Each student is given an AR Goal each nine weeks.  The entire class reached their goal for points.  However, we are lacking in our comprehension.  All students should be averaging 85% or better.  You are able to view their test taken from home.    

Use your child's name and password when logging in.  (Students know their user name and password)

           The reading and language tests are able to review after the students have taken them online at www.thinkcentral.com .  At the site students can view the story for the week including spelling and vocabulary words.  Your child should know their user name.  All passwords are westblocton. 

Lesson 6 Study Guide and Field Trip Info

We began lesson 6 today.  Click on the picture to download the study guide. The spelling, reading and vocabulary test will be on Monday, October 15, 2012.

Field Trip Notes went home today.  We are going to the American Village on December 18, 2012.  We will participate in the Gingerbread Christmas Program.

We have been invited to the WBHS Homecoming Pep Rally on Friday, October 12 (weather permitting).  I will need the signed permission slip returned so we can walk to the high school.

Check outs will begin at 11:00 am. 

Lesson 4 Study Guide

We will begin Lesson 4 tomorrow.  Your child should have brought home the new reading and spelling study guide.  Spelling words are written in your child's planner.

Start of Week 2

WOW!  We are off to a great start.  Today was very busy and some of the students didn't get their agenda completely filled out.  Here is what it should say:

Fill out and return forms in Monday folder.  Complete read and respond, Math Minute 5, Handwriting Mon. only.  Spelling, Reading and Seven Continents Test on Friday.

Spelling Words for the Week:  flag, fin, ran, has, fill, sat, list, sit, bag, win, picnic, plastic, rabbit, fabric, napkin.

We are leaning about the seven continents.  Here is a video to help the students remember all seven.




Don't forget our annual Title I Meeting is tonight at 6:00 pm, followed by classroom visitation.

We had a great turn out for open house last night!  You received a packet with many forms that need to be return on Monday.

Lesson 27 Study Guide

Health Fair

I wanted to share with you what our county does each year for our children at the Health Fair.  Each school in the county has a health fair.  Students from The University Of Alabama come in mass and do all kinds of screenings on our children.

They take over the lunchroom and library.

 The workers check vision, hearing, height, weight, blood sugar, heart rate and many other basic screenings that I didn't get a picture of.
